Campaign Cupvert: Converting Menstrual Challenges into Comfort using Menstrual Cups

নারীদের মাসিককালীন স্বাস্থ্য উন্নয়ন ও মেন্সট্রুয়াল কাপ ব্যবহারের গ্রহণযোগ্যতা নির্ধারণের লক্ষ্যে গিভ বাংলাদেশ ফাউন্ডেশন আয়োজন করেছে “Campaign Cupvert: Converting Menstrual Challenges into Comfort using Menstrual Cups’।  এরই পরিপ্রেক্ষিতে আজ কয়রায় অনুষ্ঠিত হয়েছে নারীদের মাসিক স্বাস্থ্য নিয়ে জরিপ  এবং মেন্সট্রুয়াল কাপ ব্যবহারের নিয়ম ও উপকারিতা সম্পর্কিত কর্মশালা- যেখানে নারীরা জেনেছেন মেন্সট্রুয়াল কাপের ব্যবহার তাদের জীবনে কীভাবে একটি ইতিবাচক পরিবর্তন আনতে পারে। তথ্য বিতরণ করে অংশগ্রহণকারীদের কাপ প্রদান করার মাধ্যমে ক্যাম্পেইনের পাইলট পর্যায়ের যাত্রা শুরু হলো।

উপকূলীয় অঞ্চল হওয়ায় কয়রায় বরাবরই পরিচ্ছন্ন পানির অভাব, তাই কাপড় কিংবা রিইউজেবল প্যাড পরিষ্কার করে রাখা বেশ কষ্টসাধ্য। অপরদিকে স্যানিটারি প্যাড বেশ ব্যয়বহুল এবং ব্যবহারের পরে যেখানে সেখানে ফেললে কিংবা মাটিতে পুঁতে ফেললে তা পরিবেশের জন্য ক্ষতিকর- কেননা স্যানিটারি প্যাডের বেশিরভাগ অংশ অপচনযোগ্য।  মেন্সট্রুয়াল কাপ হতে পারে উল্লেখিত সমস্যাগুলোর একটি কার্যকর সমাধান; কারণ এটি পরিবেশবান্ধব, বেশি স্বাস্থ্যসম্মত, কম ব্যয়বহুল এবং অতিরিক্ত পানির প্রয়োজন হয়না।

আমাদের বিশ্বাস এই ক্যাম্পেইনের মাধ্যমে কয়রার নারীরা তাদের মাসিককালীন স্বাস্থ্যসুরক্ষায় আরও সচেতন হবেন এবং সঠিক সিদ্ধান্ত নিতে পারবেন।

To improve women’s menstrual health and assess the acceptability of menstrual cups, Give Bangladesh Foundation launched “Campaign Cupvert: Converting Menstrual Challenges into Comfort Using Menstrual Cups.” As part of the campaign, a survey on women’s menstrual health and a workshop on the benefits and proper use of menstrual cups was conducted today in Koyra – where women learned how the menstrual cup could bring a positive change in their lives. The pilot phase of the campaign commenced with knowledge sharing and the distribution of cups to the attendees.

Koyra, being a coastal region, often faces a shortage of clean water, making it challenging to maintain the hygiene of cloths or reusable pads. Sanitary pads, on the other hand, are quite costly and are harmful to the environment if disposed of or buried after use – as most components of the pad are not biodegradable.  Menstrual cups offer an effective solution to these problems as it is environment-friendly, requires less water to clean, more hygienic and less expensive.

We believe that through this campaign the women of Koyra will be more aware of their menstrual health and will be able to make the right choice.
